Data Stewardship

Data Owner

Take accountability for the accuracy, completeness, and fitness-for-purpose of the data assets assigned to you.

Your Accountability in CoComply

Data owners are the individuals responsible for certifying that specific data assets meet the quality and governance standards required for regulatory use. CoComply makes this accountability explicit, trackable, and auditable.

  • Accept or dispute data asset ownership assignments
  • Review data quality metrics and lineage for your assets
  • Certify Critical Data Elements ahead of regulatory report filing windows
  • Document known issues and remediation plans for open data quality findings
  • Receive automated reminders when certification deadlines are approaching

Certifying a Critical Data Element

When a CDE enters the certification window, CoComply notifies you with a certification task. The task presents you with the CDE definition, its source system, current data quality score, any open issues, and the list of reports it feeds. You review this information and either certify or raise an exception with documented rationale.

Data Quality and Lineage

CoComply integrates with your data catalog and quality tooling to surface the lineage and quality profile of each asset you own. You can see where data originates, how it is transformed, and where it flows downstream into regulatory reports. This context is essential for making informed certification decisions.

Handling Data Issues

If a data asset has a known quality issue, CoComply allows you to log a structured finding that captures the issue description, impacted CDEs, severity, root cause, and remediation plan. This finding is visible to report owners and auditors and satisfies the documentation requirements of most regulatory examination frameworks.

  • Classify issues by type: completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency, or validity
  • Assign remediation tasks to engineering or operations teams
  • Track resolution progress with milestone updates
  • Auto-close findings when data quality metrics recover to threshold
